Catholicism permits gambling for fun, in moderation (like drinking), at least where the betting has no impact on the outcome. It is sometimes rumored that gambling on a conclave is forbidden anyway, but that Catholic law was repealed in 1918. Catholics may therefore gamble on the conclave with a clear conscience.
However, Catholics are certainly never obligated to gamble, either! If you personally find it unseemly, or have a personal weakness for gambling that would be unsafe to indulge, or cannot afford to lose $5, just go ahead and close this tab!
